Maison Bleue hosts exclusive charity art show raising funds for Riverwalk School with GeeWizz

Chef-Patron Pascal and Karine Canevet are hosting an exclusive art show in their award-wining restaurant Maison Bleue, Bury St Edmunds, on Sunday 11 June, showcasing Suffolk artist Ruth Simpson whilst raising essential funds for local Riverwalk School in Bury St Edmunds with GeeWizz charitable foundation.

The charity event is the brainchild of Karine having been introduced to Ruth Simpson’s work by The Wildwood Gallery.

“I love Ruth’s paintings, they are absolutely stunning and capture the energy and beauty of our Suffolk landscape,” said Karine.

The event hopes to raise enough money to purchase a much needed Clevertouch interactive screen with a special SWEEZ mount system. These interactive screens are a fantastic classroom resource and the special mount means that the screen may be moved up, down and side-to-side, so that children of all abilities can use them.

Gina Long MBE, founder of GeeWizz, said: “These screens really do make such a difference to the quality of disabled children’s education and we are hugely grateful to Maison Bleue and Ruth Simpson for hosting this special fundraiser. We hope to raise £5,500 for Riverwalk School, donating a Clevertouch interactive screen.”

Ruth Simpson’s painting, kindly donated for the GeeWizz charity raffle, is currently on display at Maison Bleue. Depicting a Suffolk meadow, it is full of the vibrancy of summer, with cornflowers, cow parsley and daisies set against a blue summer’s sky.

Ruth said: “I am inspired by the changing seasons in nature, the transformations in colour, texture and light encourage me to recreate nature’s theatre. My painting techniques develop and adapt to capture the drama and emotion of the scene”

Tickets for the Art Show are available directly from Maison Bleue priced at £15. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception and Pascal’s renowned canapes whilst viewing 24 of Ruth’s contemporary collection.

There will also be a raffle drawn on the day for the painting pictured, kindly donated by Ruth Simpson, with the £10 tickets on sale now. All proceeds from ticket sales, raffle and a percentage of painting sales will go directly to the GeeWizz Charitable Trust.

The one day exclusive event on Sunday 11 June starts at 11am and offers the opportunity to meet the artist and discuss her stunning collection.

You may purchase event tickets and raffle tickets from Maison Bleue via info@maisonbleue.co.uk or by calling 01284 760623.
