In March 2022 GeeWizz responded to the Ukrainian crisis cry for help, acting as a community collection hub and fundraiser for transportation of aid. We were overwhelmed by people’s generosity, with donations escalating to fill 3 vans, twelve 40ft curtain-side lorries, three sprinter vans and three 7.5 tonne lorries. A community of Suffolk volunteers sorted, bagged, and transported aid to the Ukraine border.
The fundraising for the West Suffolk Humanitarian Aid Appeal that GeeWizz has received will cover the transportation of collected aid to include fuel, Eurostar tunnel fees, export fees and road tolls. GeeWizz are supporting the Lyviv Childrens Hospital Support Group who are transporting medical supplies and equipment into Ukraine. Any additional funds for the Ukraine Appeal, raised up until 16 March 2022, will be allocated to support refugees arriving in Suffolk via Suffolk County Council.
We are no longer able to accept aid, clothing, toys, food, goods, or medical supplies and would like to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity.
“We would like to thank the whole Suffolk community, our volunteers and friends for their outstanding community spirit, energy and support; we are forever grateful” Gina Long MBE
What’s GeeWizz doing now?
We are a small independent charity supporting children and young adults, across Suffolk who are learning disabled or neurodivergent, have a life-limiting illness or cancer. Our focus is to provide much needed specialist equipment to help improve their lives.
Our aim is simple – to supply the best equipment for every child and young adult we support to enhance and improve the quality of life for them, their families, and friends.
