Local primary school, Sir robert Hitcham have opened a new life-changing SMART 'Music Pod' and Disabled WC, fundraised from GeeWizz Charity's #EdGuitarRaffle and many generous members of the community. The school was without a music room after being forced to turn their old space into a classroom to meet pupil demand. The new 'Music Pod' will also provide a specialised space to accommodate their learning disabled and neurodivergent students. GeeWizz Charity have also fitted out the ‘Music Pod’ with sensory equipment and instruments. The vision, from Kate Mawson and Catherine Johnson, of having the 'Music Pod', is going to enrich so many lives for endless years to come. The Disabled WC will be a life-changing addition, previously students were having to go across the school to the second storey to get to the old disabled facilities.
GeeWizz Charity fundraised for the project from the popular #EdGuitarRaffle, which raised an incredible £52,765. Ed Sheeran personally donated the prototype guitar equals (=) guitar built by renowned, George Lowden. Enormous thanks are owed to Ed Sheeran for the donation of his guitar, which attracted worldwide interest in GeeWizz Charity's raffle, selling tickets in 150 countries. Sir Robert Hitcham Primary School, in Ed’s hometown of Framlingham, will now benefit from a purpose built, dedicated music room, to be enjoyed by many pupils for years to come. Without Ed Sheeran generously donating his bespoke guitar, allowing GeeWizz Charity to do our raffle, this pipe dream would not have become a reality.
SMART Garden Office designed and installed the fully accessible ‘Music Pod’, which will be a dedicated music lesson space for whole classes, music clubs, and band practice, along with the new Disabled WC.
The opening of the new ‘Music Pod’ at the school was a wonderful day. It was fantastic to see the room in action, already being utilised and enjoyed by pupils and staff alike. The children performed many talented musical pieces, showcasing their love of music. The 'Music Pod' has been beautifully painted, it is exciting to know that pupils of Sir Robert Hitcham will be enjoying the space for many years to come. GeeWizz are so proud, as a very small charity, this is exactly what GeeWizz does best. Working with INCREDIBLE people, INCREDIBLE companies, and wonderful schools to change the students' lives for many years to come.
