A triathlon with a twist is returning to Suffolk this year to support the work of the GeeWizz charitable foundation. The Big BRO Race has become a popular fundraising challenge combining a 24k bike ride, 4k run and 25 obstacles – all set in and around the host venue of The Playground in Barrow, near Bury St Edmunds. This year’s challenge on Sunday 23rd September will see 100% of the entry fee go to GeeWizz after sponsorship was agreed with Greene King as the title and main sponsor of what is now the Greene King Big BRO Race. Laura Hudson, event organiser, said: “I am delighted to have the support of Greene King. It is so exciting as it takes the event to another level because it means every single penny raised can help GeeWizz provide crucial support to local families. “We decided to support GeeWizz this year because it’s a great transparent charity. It was also important for me and all those who will be taking part to see exactly how the money raised can help in my local community. “I have literally put in blood, sweat and tears to this event, since it started, and I felt it was important being able to see first-hand how the Greene King Big BRO Race will be supporting a local family. It will make it a lot more worthwhile for me, as an organiser, and for everyone taking part.” Gina Long MBE, founder of GeeWizz, said: “I am delighted that Laura Hudson and The Playground’s Greene King Big BRO Race will be supporting GeeWizz this year.” “Our charity prides itself on transparent giving where we work closely with our fundraisers to show them exactly how their money is making a difference to local families. “The work Laura and The Playground do in hosting their fantastic fundraiser is huge and this year they will be literally helping change a local family’s life.” Dom South, marketing director, Greene King Brewing & Brands, said: “Greene King is proud to support the local Suffolk community and what better way to do it than through the Greene King Big BRO Race.” Now in its third year, Laura said the event is great for those that want to take it seriously – with chip timing available - or for anyone looking for a fun challenge with friends or a great and unique way for corporate team-building. Entry is £45 per person, which all goes to supporting the GeeWizz charity, and is available by visiting http://www.theplaygrounduk.com/the-big-bro/.
